Arts & Entertainment Art Classes at the Green Energy Park

The Jackson County Green Energy Park is offering a new round of blacksmithing courses this summer. The courses are being taught by blacksmith Brock Martin, and are taking place during the weekends, through the weekend of June 25. The course offerings are as follows:

— Parent/Child Blacksmith Class Saturday & Sunday, June 18-19, 1-6 p.m.

A course designed as a cooperative learning experience, participants will learn basic blacksmithing through the creation of a simple object. From there, they will apply those skills to create larger tools, such as a grill set. Come with ideas for a project, as well.

— Introduction To Chainmaille Saturday & Sunday, June 25-26, 1-6 p.m.

This class provides the fundamental understanding of chainmaille needed to construct jewelry, and other accessories. The course covers 4-8 weaves, and will be tailored towards the interests of the students.

More information on the class offerings can be found on the website, http://jcgep.org/events.html, or by phone, at (828)631-0271.
