Arts & Entertainment Workshops in glass offered by WCU, JCGEP

Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing Education is offering workshops in glass creation this summer in cooperation with the Jackson County Green Energy Park (JCGEP) in the month of July.

— “Fundamentals of Glassblowing” workshop, students can learn that skill through demonstrations, exercises and one-on-one instruction. Classes will cover topics such as safety in the studio, proper use of glass tools, and hot-shop etiquette. The cost is $350.

— “Glass Goblets” class will focus on assembling the three parts of the goblet – body, stem and foot – and the instruction will cover various types of goblets, including martini, champagne, red and white wine, and bowls. The cost is $430.
