The Macon County Public Library presents “An Interactive Experience - Women of the Bible,” artwork by Reesa Boyce on display through the month of February.
Featuring women from Eve to Elizabeth, Jezebel to Jesus’ mother Mary, these collages invite viewers to study the complexities of each woman.
“The technique is a very forgiving technique, in terms of paper and fabrics and all of that, and the women in the Bible are human beings who also need forgiveness,” said Boyce. “It was like a loose psychological interpretation, as well as this historical Biblical interpretation.
“The thing that’s so exciting is that viewing art is an interactive experience. When I work privately in my studio, I am projecting my own vision God has given me with whatever gifts onto that piece of paper, and it’s been my life experience and my vision. When it gets hung on the wall, the viewer comes and looks on it and imposes their own life experience and vision onto it,” said Boyce.
The library will be hosting an informative talk with the author early in February.
