Songwriter and singer Angela Faye Martin will be hosting again an evening of Music and Poetry at the Rickman Store on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
Among previous performers who will return to the store are Laurence Holden, Steve Brady and Kathrine Cays. Poet Laurence Holden is a prolific painter, cove-dwelling artist who has been published widely. “I live here because these mountains sustain me and my art - light, dark, the seasons, the time of deep past, deep present and deep future, all mix here in alchemic mists ...” said Holden who is grateful to have the opportunity to present at the store.
This third gathering will include the performance of the Ubuntu Choir of Franklin, a group of people who love to sing a cappella in harmony. The Ubuntu Choir sings spirituals and gospel music from many world traditions, in many languages, and also from local traditions. Ubuntu, Franklin is a member of the Ubuntu International Network of community choirs, headquartered in Victoria, B.C.
Everyone is invited to bring their creations to share this Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. The historic Rickman Store is located in on Cowee Creek Road next to Cowee Elementary School, seven miles north of Franklin off Hwy NC 28.
