The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, an award winning American countryfolk- rock band, will be in concert at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25 each.
With multiple platinum and gold records, many top ten hits, and multiple Grammy, IBMA, and CMA awards, it’s no mystery why the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been pleasing audiences for more than 40 years. Notable hits for this dynamic band include “Fishing in the Dark” and “Mr. Bojangles.” Their groundbreaking album, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” was inducted into the US Library of Congress and the Grammy Hall of Fame. And last year, their recording of “Mr. Bojangles” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame as well.
Concert goers will enjoy the musical stylings of Jeff Hanna on guitar and vocals; Jimmy Fadden on drums, harmonica, and vocals; Bob Carpenter on keyboard, accordion, bass, and vocals; and John McEuen on banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Hanna and Fadden have been with the band since it originally formed in 1966.
