Arts & Entertainment Nature photographer to sign books at library

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Macon County Public Library will host a book signing with nature photographer James Valentine in the Program Room from 5 to 7 p.m.

James Valentine-Valentine is a naturalist, photographer, artist, and filmmaker whose work, including more than ten books, has helped to preserve millions of wild acres.

He donated his properties to the Highland Biological Station as a tribute to preserving one of the most biodiverse mountainous regions of the planet. His new book is “Southern Appalachian Celebration: In Praise of Ancient Mountains, Old-Growth Forest, & Wilderness.” Part of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the library.

The Macon County Public Library is located at 149 Siler Farm Road, Franklin. For more information, call (828)524-3600 or visit www.fontanalib.org.
