Arts & Entertainment The Liars Bench presents Southern Appalachian hunting tales at WCU

Plott family hunters and their world famous hounds.On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. The Liars Bench presents “Legendary Hunters and Hounds of the Great Smokies” at WCUs Mountain Heritage Center auditorium.

Member artists Gary Carden, Barbara Duncan, Paul Iarussi; guest artists William Ritter and Liz Nance; and a special guest artist, Bob Plott with one of his famous Plott Hounds perform Southern Appalachian hunting tales in story and song on one stage.

Regular cast members include Gary Carden, Lloyd Arneach, Paul Iarussi, Barbara Duncan, Dave Waldrop, and the show’s mascot Bodine. The Liars Bench recognizes established regional artists and performers and encourages new talent also.

Gary CardenThe Liars Bench was created in the early summer of 2010 by Dr. Gary Carden to promote Southern Appalachian storytelling, music, poetry, drama, and folk arts.

The next presentation of The Liars Bench at WCUs Mountain Heritage Center will be Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. with “A Balsam Mountain Christmas.”
