Singer/songwriter/musician Keirsten Hedden, 17, of Franklin, has been singing since she was three years old and playing guitar for the past four years. Hedden studied guitar under Tom Nixon, one of the owners of Blue Ridge Music Academy. Nixon is also a member of the very popular bluegrass group the Fox Fire Boys from Clayton, Ga. In the past two years, she has started writing her own songs. On Oct. 1, 2011, she released her first album entitled, “Don’t Be Afraid to Dream,” which has six of her own original songs out of the ten that are on the album. Hedden’s album is available on web sites such as CD Baby and Itunes.
Hedden won the 2010 GCGMA (Georgia Country and Gospel Music Association) Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. She also won the 2011 NACMAI (North America Country Music Associations, Int’l) Most Promising Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year.
Some of Hedden’s favorite country artists includes Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Reba McIntyre, Pam Tillis and Jo Dee Messina just to name a few.
Hedden’s warm outgoing personality along with her outstanding music and talent draws people and fans to her and the music. Keirsten loves performing for her audiences.
She sings and writes country and contemporary Christian music and her writing style is unique and her voice crystal clear. Hedden’s goals in her music are to use the gifts God has given her to glorify Him and to reach other people. She wants people to be able to relate to her music and somehow help them in whatever situation they are in like music has helped her.
