Arts & Entertainment Free ARTSaturday workshop for kids January 8

Elementary school-aged children and their families are invited to the Arts Council’s free ARTSaturday arts and crafts workshop, on Saturday Jan. 8, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Macon County Public Library children’s wing. The Council provides all materials and instruction for make-and-take projects including personalized 2011 calendars, cotton batting snowmen collages, soap flake snowmen, and pine cone bird feeders. ARTSaturday always features live music by keyboardist Lionel Caynon, and coloring projects. No preregistration required; children should wear play clothes and come for any part of the session. Adults must stay with their children.

The library is off Siler Road in Franklin. The monthly ARTSaturday series is produced by the Arts Council of Macon County, and is supported by the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
