The Arts and Cultural Events Series at Western Carolina University will present “La Pasion Flamenca” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
Presented by the Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana dance company, the program of Spanish dance and music features solos, duets and company dances and is meant to evoke a journey through the cultural crossroads of Andalusia, the southern region of Spain where the flamenco dance originated. Dance Magazine has called Carlota Santana, the company's artistic director, the “keeper of the flamenco.”
ACE (formerly the Lectures, Concerts and Exhibition Series) is presented annually at WCU and is meant to appeal to a wide audience. ACE will next host author Nick Flynn, recipient of the PEN/Martha Albrand Award, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building.
Individual tickets for “La Pasion Flamenca” cost $10 ($5 for students) and can be purchased by calling the Bardo Arts Center box office at 828-227-2479 or visiting bardoartscenter. wcu.edu.
