The Licklog Players are working hard to organize 25 years of costumes, props, flats, tools, play scripts and many other items in their new home in the Creekside Plaza. They have a large area in the mall across from the ABC Store on Route 17 in Hayesville.
Volunteers have been busy going through hundreds of costumes----from ball gowns and wedding dresses to flapper outfits. Popular director, Nancy Davis, who will be directing “Annie Get Your Gun” this summer as well as “A Christmas Carol” is on the look-out for costumes she can use. Musical director Paul Dyer has given countless hours helping Licklog. They are looking forward to doing the summer musical. Alexa Lichate and her helpers come two days a week to be sure the costumes are in good order. Everything from old record players to a knight in armor have to be carefully stored for future use. Many others have helped.
Licklog is getting ready to have a full season of plays. While they will miss the Peacock Playhouse very much, they are looking forward. They have planned a Valentine treat on February 12th at the Hinton Center. Lunch and “Love Letters” will be a great way to celebrate the holiday. Director Edie Kleinpeter and Steven Jones will present the Pulitzer Prize winning readers theater play “Love Letters.” It is poignant and very funny, as the letters tell the deep friendship of two people throughout their lives. This play is often presented on Broadway with various actors taking part. Both Kleinpeter and Jones are professional actors who enjoy working with each other.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 at the Hinton Center with the play at 1:30. Then stay to visit with others and enjoy dessert and coffee. The cost is $30 for two tickets or $20 for one ticket---so bring a friend. Call 828- 389-8632 for reservations. We hope you will support the Licklog Players.
