Arts & Entertainment “The Fantasticks” to be presented at New Black Box Theatre

Stephanie Roman as the Mute (in the back), Ryan Bender as Matt (left) and Ali McCollough as Luisa (right), the young couple who fall in love.Licklog Players will present an enchanting production of “The Fantasticks”, directed by Chris Hendley. Performances will be held April 13-15 and April 20-22 at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the Creek Side Plaza in Hayesville.

The Licklog Players new venue, a 100- seat black box theatre with three quarter seating, provides an intimate setting for “The Fantasticks,” a classic coming-of– age story by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. “The Fantasticks” tells the love story of a young man and the girl next door, whose parents have built a wall to keep them apart. The youngsters nevertheless contrive to meet and fall in love. Their parents, meanwhile, are congratulating themselves, for they have erected the wall and staged a feud in order to foster a marriage between their willfully disobedient children. The cast includes Chris Hendley in the role of El Gallo, Ryan Bender as Matt, Ali McCollough as Luisa, Stephanie Roman as the Mute, Sandy Calloway as Hucklebee, David Vowell as Bellomy, Delilah Davenport as Henri and Bill Eckstein as Mortimer.

Tickets for this Tony award winning musical comedy are on sale now. General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $8 for students. Tickets are available at the Licklog Players Community Theatre box office Monday through Friday, 10a.m. to 2p.m. and one hour prior to the performance.
