Thursdays at the Library presents a program by a local artist on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Meeting Room.
The Macon County Public Library welcomes artist Norma Hendrix, whose work will be on display in the Macon County Public Library Meeting Room during the month of September. Hendrix will be talking about the different techniques employed in her art work, including a hands-on demonstration of creating rubbings in graphite - materials provided.
Norma Hendrix, (formerly Smith) works from her studio in Franklin, and exhibits regularly. She has been an Artist in Residence at major artist residencies in the U.S. and France. An active teacher, she has served as both undergraduate and graduate faculty in the School of Art and Design at Western Carolina University, 2000-2009. She is director of Cullowhee Mountain ARTS, a non-profit that is launching its first season of workshops and programs on the campus of Western Carolina University www.cullowheemountainarts.org. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibits in the Southeastern U.S. and is included in several private collections.
Thursdays at the Library is an eclectic mix of programs by authors, musicians, and educators on topics designed for enjoyment and learning. These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Library; they are free, appropriate for all ages and open to all.
