The Jackson County Public Library will host a free concert featuring the gospel group Children of Zion on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room.
Children of Zion is a local group of musicians and singers. Their style varies from Southern Gospel to Contemporary Gospel to Appalachian Ballads. The core group formed in 2004 and, at the moment they are an all female group.
Children of Zion consists of: Pat Sluder on keyboards, Becky Harwood on bass, Sharon Dills on the fiddle, Betty Brown on guitar and vocals, Terri Hollifield with vocals, and Stephanie Bryson also with vocals.
The group delights in switching the group member on lead vocals in order to emphasize the different styles of music that each member specializes in singing. The group will perform for approximately an hour, with half of the performance featuring Christmas music.
