The Asheville-based band’s 7 p.m. performance will be followed by an 8 p.m. jam session in which local musicians are invited to participate.

Whitewater Bluegrass Co. has been entertaining audiences throughout the Southeast for more than three decades with its blend of bluegrass, country ballads, mountain swing and down-home humor. The band has been a favorite act at WCU’s annual fall festival, Mountain Heritage Day, for many years. The group currently includes two WCU alumni, Bill Byerly on guitar and Steve Sutton on banjo, along with Dave Pendley on mandolin, Danielle Bishop on fiddle, and “Uncle” Ted White on bass.

The concerts and jam sessions will continue at the Mountain Heritage Center through the winter and early spring, with upcoming events to feature Locust Honey on March 7 and Phil and Gaye Johnson on April 4.

Pickers and singers of all ages and experience levels are invited to take part in the jam sessions, and the events also are open to those who just want to listen.

The Mountain Heritage Center is located on the ground floor of WCU’s H.F. Robinson Administration Building. For more information, call the museum at 828-227-7129.
