The Weinberg-Babelay Duo will perform a program of jazz standards and modern works on Thursday May 9, at 7 p.m., in the historic chapel of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Franklin. The program spans musical styles from Dixieland, Latin, and Swing, to contemporary pieces, including classics like “Satin Doll,” “Take the A Train,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In,” more recent hits like “Watermelon Man,” and some original compositions.
Vibraphonist Paul Babelay and saxophonist Lloyd Weinberg are talented, versatile, and personable musicians with extensive solo, ensemble, and studio experience. The duo will perform and teach master classes to Macon County public school music students Thursday and Friday, May 9-10, through the Arts Council’s Artists-in-the-Schools Program.
This program is sponsored by the Arts Council of Macon County, supported by the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
