Arts & Entertainment Mark Lowry back in Franklin Saturday

Mark LowryMark Lowry, a Dove Award-winning Christian comedian, songwriter, and singer best known as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, will be in concert at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts Saturday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $18. Lowry has been entertaining and inspiring audiences for nearly 40 years.

He wrote the lyrics to “Mary Did You Know,” a popular Christmas song that has been recorded by several artist including Kenny Rogers, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire and Donny Osmond. He has been a member of the Gaither Vocal Band for more than a decade, and has been recording albums and videos since age 11.

Stan Whitmire, a very talented Dove Award-winning pianist, has been part of a music ministry for more than 30 years. He has been travelling across the country with Lowry since 2003. Together, they share a message of God’s love and grace that encourages audiences of all ages. Lowry’s gift for communicating truth through music and storytelling keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. His entertaining personality makes showgoers laugh, cry, and think about their personal journey.
