The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts announces its new General Manager, Paul Garner. As General Manager, Garner will oversee the theater’s day-to-day operations, spearhead the planning, development, scheduling, and implementation of special events and performances, and provide leadership to ensure the theater’s priorities and objectives are consistent with its goals.
Garner attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla., where he studied music production and recording arts. He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Business. After graduation, Paul interned at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts and was introduced to many aspects of theater production and management including administration, directing, lighting, scenic artistry, sound design, and stage management.
At the conclusion of his internship, Garner accepted a job with White Strings Records in Lakeland, Fla. He assisted with artist bookings, tour routings, artist development, and merchandise management. Garner returned to Franklin in early 2012 and accepted a position with Drake Enterprises in the audio/visual department. He has aided in the development and production of multiple commercials and tutorial videos, has provided instruction during streaming classes, and has assisted with the technical direction for many concerts at the theater.
Garner is talented, determined, and eager to serve. He said, “To be the General Manager at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts is simply a dream come true. I am humbled to have a wonderful team already in place and can’t wait to see what 2014 holds for us.” Garner, his wife Amanda, and baby son Hudson, live in Franklin and are active in the community.
