Arts & Entertainment WCU flute professor to present March 22 recital

Western Carolina University professor of flute Eldred Spell will be accompanied by current and former WCU students as he presents a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, in the recital hall of the university’s Coulter Building.

Spell will be joined in performing on flute by Heather McKee, a 2012 WCU graduate with a master’s degree in music and who is now a part-time faculty member in the university’s School of Music, and current flute students Christine Hughes, Kayla Vreeland and Sarah Uselton.

Lillian Buss Pearson, a former WCU music faculty member, will perform on piano and harpsichord.

The program will include works by J.S. Bach, Ernesto Koehler, Sir Arthur Sullivan, Franz and Karl Doppler, Leo Delibes and Gary Shocker.
