Learn the art of Coptic bookbinding with artistin- residence Katherine Cays at the historic Rickman Store in the Cowee community in Franklin, on Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All levels are welcome and each student will complete a Coptic bound book.
Coptic binding has braid like stitches that hold pages and covers together with the spine remaining visible.
The book lies flat when open, which is especially nice for journaling or sketching.
The class is a repeat of the February workshop, so if you missed it, here is another opportunity to participate in the experience.
Returning students are welcome and will learn how to apply simple closures and book markers to customize this ancient book structure.
Cost of the class is $90 which includes tuition as well as materials.
Pre-registration and tuition payment is due by Thursday, April 14, and may be done by calling (828)349-7476 or by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
