The internationally acclaimed Golden Dragon Acrobats will grace the stage of the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15-$20.
Widely recognized throughout the United States and abroad as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company of today, the Golden Dragon Acrobats feature performers who have been trained in the rigorous art of acrobatics since early youth. The Golden Dragon Acrobats debuted in 1985 and are the only Chinese acrobatic company touring year-round in the United States.
Producor/director Danny Chang and his wife, Angela, choreographer, have built a solid reputation through their commitment to the highest of production values and an attention to artistic detail that is unparalleled in the art form. They combine award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music, and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats have performed in more than 65 countries and all 50 states and present more than 200 performances each year at 100 to 200 venues across the United States. The company has performed twice at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, had a sixweek engagement at Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C., and were critically acclaimed in a six-week Broadway engagement. The Golden Dragon Acrobats received two prestigious New York Drama Desk Award nominations for their Broadway performances.
