Western Carolina University’s Division of Educational Outreach is offering the opportunity for members of the community to have fun while staying active this summer through a ballroom dance class.
The class will be held from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings May 24 through June 28.
Participants will learn several ballroom dance styles, including the waltz, tango, cha-cha, swing and fox-trot, as well as the basics of leading and following in a social ballroom dance setting.
Beginners are welcome, and attendees of previous classes also are encouraged to take part. Participants may attend with or without a partner. Comfortable, soft-bottomed shoes are required.
Instructor Heidi Turlington holds a degree in dance education from Meredith Collage and a master’s degree in physical education from WCU. Turlington is a former competitive dancer and experienced instructor.
Cost of the class for an individual is $59 and $118 for couples. This summer’s class has a new location in the dance studio located on the second floor of Breese Gymnasium on the WCU campus. Registration will continue through the first week of classes.
