Event promoters for the Smoky Mountain Rumble Motorcycle Rally were able to secure adequate insurance for the Aug. 17-19 event. The event will take place as planned, on the Highlands Road with the support of the town and Franklin Tourism Development Authority (TDA).

During the continuation of last weeks' special called meeting of the TDA, Town Attorney John Henning Jr. announced that event organizers, Sylvia and Scott Cochran, who were not present at Tuesday's meeting, were able to obtain a quote that would provide a proper insurance policy for the rally. The insurance policy will come at a cost of $774 and it will provide at least $1 million in liability coverage to cover the Town of Franklin, the TDA, and the event promoters, explained Henning.
