Annie Idella Chase Funderburk
Annie Idella Chase Funderburk, 81, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Born in Lee County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late George Chase and Tera Messer Chase. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Funderburk; sister, Bertha Rodgers and two infant brothers, George and Benny Lee Chase. She was an avid movie fan and loved gospel music. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by five children, Thomas Wayne Jones and wife Nancy of Fischers, Ind., Kay McCoy and husband Ned of Franklin, Ricky Jones and wife Marsha of Haynesville, Ga., Jeff Jones of Franklin and Gregory Jones of Haynesville, Ga.; three sisters, Lura McClaine of Lynette, Ala., Peggy Hammond of Five Points, Ala. and Virginia Fulghum of Valley, Ala.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 2, at Johnson Brown Funeral Home in Valley, Ala.

Virdie Birdell Conley
Virdie Birdell Conley, 84, of Clayton, Ga., passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at a Toccoa, Ga., health care facility. She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late George Coleman and Mary Isabell Dryman Conley. She was a cook and housekeeper for the nursing home. She was a member of Tessentee Church of God and loved sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her brother, Fred Conley and his wife, Carol, of Toccoa, Ga.; four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Kidd and Virgie Cox and three brothers, Ernest, Ned and Don Conley.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 5, in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Rondal Owen officiating. Burial was held at Wright Cemetery.

Glenn Edward Pratt Jr.
Glenn Edward Pratt Jr. (Jim), 83, formally of Middletown, Ohio and of Franklin, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 1, 2012.
Born in Middletown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Glenn and Mildred Pratt. He was employed by Mayer Meat Company and was owner of Jeff’s Market in Poastown, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Judith Ann; two sons, Michael (Darlene) and Anthony (Christy) Parandi; sister, Lois (Everett) Metzger; two brothers, Robert (Gayle) and Larry (Elaine); grandchildren, Christopher Pratt, Julie Abrams (Jason), Tracy Hoblit (Mark), and Elayna and Cora Parandi; great grandchildren, Kayla Noyes, Jaden Abrams, Leah and Ivy Rose Hoblit.
Services were held in Middletown, Ohio at Woodside Cemetery Monday, Aug. 6. His nephew, Father Ed Pratt of Our Lady of Sorrows in Monroe, Ohio, officiated.

Mary Frances Gould
Mary Frances “Fran” Gould, 88, of Franklin, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012.
Born in Nyack, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter Conway and Mary D’Auria Conway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gould, and a brother, Walter Conway Jr. She was formerly active in the Macon County Homemaker’s Association. She volunteered her time at Cartoogechaye Elementary School when her grandchildren were young and served as team mom in sports.
She is survived by two children, Marcia Parlier and husband Charles of Franklin and George Gould and wife Debbie of Arden, N.C.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
No services have been planned at this time.

Hattie Othel Holloway
Hattie Othel Holloway, 82, of Highlands, N.C., passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at an Asheville hospital. She was born in Hillsborough County, Fla., the daughter of the late Henry Holland and Hattie Cooper Tyler. She was the youngest of nine children and her main joy in her life was her grandchildren who called her Mom-Mom. She loved to sew, loved meeting new friends and traveling with her husband to different jobs all over the country. She had worked as a legal secretary and was a member of Highlands First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frank Harris Holloway; her daughter, Lisa Maselli and her husband John of Evans, Ga.; two sons, Lamar Brown and his wife, Malinda of Hampton, S.C. and Rick Holloway and his wife Carolyn of Tomball, Texas; one sister, Thelma Glattli of Highlands; four grandchildren, Anthony Maselli, Angela Maselli, Tyler Holloway and Leigh Anna Brown.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Highlands First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles H. Harris officiating. Lamar Brown, Rick Holloway, Anthony Maselli, Tyler Holloway, Joe Simmons and Joe Powell will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be held at the Highlands Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Highlands where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Sylvia Alice Shaffer Bolick
Sylvia Alice “Took” Shaffer Bolick, 70, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Born in Wooster, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert Harry Shaffer and Jennie Frieda Freed Owenby. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ellard Bolick; three children, Carla Reilly of Weaverville, N.C., Kathy Mewborn and husband William Carl Mewborn, III of Monroe, Ga. and Marty Bolick and wife Annette of Toccoa, Ga.; six grandchildren, Tosha and Nick Austin, Mandy and Ryan Tobin, Will and Erica Mewborn, Morgan Bolick, Madison Bolick and Johnathan Reilly and four great-grandchildren, Autumn Austin, Alec Austin, Samuel O’Rear and Brayden Tobin.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 5, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Gregg Bolick and Rev. Steve Reeves officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jeffrey Karl Sanders
Jeffrey (Jeff) Karl Sanders, 43, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. Born in Macon County, he was the son of John (Jay) and Betty Henson Sanders. He was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He liked camping and was a member of Clarks Chapel Fire Department. He had worked as a security guard at Highlands Country Club. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Gussie Henson and paternal grandparents, Jess and Ida Sanders.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Kayla Sanders of the home and Brianna Stewart of Franklin; one son, Devan Sanders of the home; one sister, Sharon Cates and husband Kevin of Weekie-Wachee, Fla.; one brother, Mike Sanders and wife Carol of Apex, N.C., and a special nephew, Joe Friedling.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Brown and Rev. Randy Drinnon officiating.

Luwe George Lemaire
Luwe George Lemaire, 75, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. Born in Bussom, Holland May 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Johanna Wittig Lemaire and Georg Lemaire of Franklin, and was a member of Union Methodist Church. He was a skilled cabinet maker and wood worker from Shoops Cabinet Shop in Leesburg, Fla. He also worked with great people and friends at Britthaven for many years.
He is survived by three daughters, Angel Lemaire of Franklin, Gina Davis of Leesburg, Fla. and Deanna Stacey of NC/SC; and one son, Christopher Lemaire of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Heidi Locklear, Joshua High and Dalton High, Amber Brooks, Zachary Davis, Taylor Davis, Michael Banville, George Banville and Waylon Reynolds; five great-grandchildren, Dakota, Hannah, Savannah, Josh Jr., Skyler and cousins, aunts and uncles in the Netherlands.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the CNAs, nurses, staff and kitchen staff of Britthaven of Franklin for their care, support and understanding.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
