Randal Koons, “Randy,” was born on Feb. 25, 1943, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was raised in Iowa and is survived by his brother, Ronald Koons of Chicago, Ill. He met his wife, Ruth Ellen at a military dance in Columbus, Ohio in 1967. They were married on Dec. 27, 1969, and enjoyed 42 years of happiness together. He spent the majority of his career working in various roles at Walt Disney World for 27 years. The couple had three children: Kevin Albert, Kirk Charles, and Kimberly Nicole. He was preceded in death by his first born son, Kevin. They are now happily reunited in the kingdom of God. He has four grandchildren which brought him immense pride and joy: Noah Kevin Barefoot, Sarah Ellen Barefoot, Kyle Goodman Koons, Kieran Thomas Koons.
He was an avid LA Dodger fan, loved to read, make jigsaw puzzles, and loved the Lord. He enjoyed the outdoors including hiking and camping which were among his favorite activities. He was called home to heaven on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, while hiking in the North Carolina mountains with his son.
The funeral was held at Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 20.

James Keith Tallent
James Keith Tallent, 51, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of Virginia Moore Tallent and the late Rev. Wallace Tallent. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a faithful member of Windy Gap Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Christopher Tallent of Highlands; sister, Audrey Buchanan and husband Coleman of Franklin and nephew, Jesse Buchanan of Franklin; his fiancée, Diane Waldroop and her daughter, Brittney Watson, who considered Keith her “Poppy.”
Funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 22, at Windy Gap Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Bishop officiated. Burial was in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ben West, Mark Holland, Ben Roper, Olin Ledford, Scottie Bishop, Kevin Rogers, Bobby Peek and Jimmy Hall.

James Edward Sullivan
James Edward Sullivan, 86, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late William Joseph Sullivan and Agnes Mary Lamb Sullivan. Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita Sullivan; a daughter, Mary Lynn Poole and husband Cliff of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, James Edward Sullivan Jr. of Davie, Fla.; six brothers and sisters, William J. Sullivan Jr. of Richmond, Va., Honor Sullivan of Springfield, Mass., Esther Malone of Griswold, Conn., John Sullivan of Mt. Carmel, Conn., Margaret Bentley of Montpelier, Vt. and Robert Sullivan of Franklin; two grandchildren, William James Simcox Jr. and wife Jill of Graham, N.C. and Stephanie Renee Feaster and husband Brandon of Randleman, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Noah James Simcox and Austin James Feaster and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

Nancy Gail Hunnicutt Downs
Nancy Gail Hunnicutt Downs, 70, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. Born in Transylvania County, she was the daughter of Lillian Culver Hunnicutt and the late Frank Hunnicutt. She was married to Bobby Ray Downs who passed away Nov. 28, 2010. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Lovell and husband Wendell; and one son, Ronnie Downs and wife Jane all of Franklin; one sister, Barbara Guest and one brother, Jerry Hunnicutt both of Franklin; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Wells Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Lovell officiating

Edith Marie Sellers Welch
Edith Marie Sellers Welch, 89, of Alto, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
She was born on May 1, 1923, in Franklin, N.C.; the daughter of the late Samuel Oscar and Gladys Marie Waldroop Sellers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Welch; son, James Michael Welch; brother, Joseph Reid Sellers; and grandmother, Sally Althea Waldroop. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Franklin. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Gail Drake, of Alto, Ga.; sons, Ed Fitzgerald, of Charlotte, N.C. and Glenn Fitzgerald, of Covington, Ga.; sister, Katherine Elizabeth Curtis, of Valdosta, Ga.; brother, Samuel Vance “Bill” Sellers, of Franklin; grandchildren, Kevin Chambers, Missie Winter, Chad Fitzgerald, Shawna Fitzgerald Cope, Daniel Stewart- Fitzgerald, and Amanda Stewart-Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Caroline Winter, Courtney Winter, Evan Fitzgerald, Owen Fitzgerald, Allison Cope, and Emily Cope; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Oct. 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Ga., with Rev. Glenn Parrish officiating. Interment followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
