A free seminar on Business Use of Your Home will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Southwestern Community College’s Macon Campus.
Sponsored by SCC’s Small Business Center, the course will be taught by Arlene Childers, assistant director of NC Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (NC REAL). Childers will lead the class and help participants with procedures and forms required to figure and claim the deductions for business use of a home.
Participants will learn the requirements for qualifying as a home-based business, identify types of expenses to deduct, learn how to figure the deductions including depreciation, identify what records should be kept and receive practice in the preparation of tax forms for simple home based business.
SBC has joined with The Franklin Main Street Program, Macon Economic Development Commission and NC REAL to foster community support for entrepreneurship, including a series of small business seminars. The next seminar will be Technology in Small Business on Oct.13.
