The Franklin Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Joe Collins celebrated the opening of Sakura Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar recently with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Sakura is located at 57 Highlands Road in the Shops at Riverwalk shopping center.

Owners Donna and Jerry Qiu, have 10 years of experience in Japanese cuisine including hibachi grill and sushi preparation.

“We plan on adding a Hibachi Grill to our restaurant next year,” says Donna Qiu.

Sakura offers traditional Japanese and sushi cuisine with a lunch menu that can get you in and out in 30 minutes. Offering “Monthly Feature Dishes” is a way for the Qius to “test” new dishes that may eventually be added to their menu.

Franklin’s only locally owned and operated pharmacy, Smart Pharmacy, joined forces with the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new store. The Franklin Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of By Mountain Hands located at 31 Macon Center Drive.

“We like to consider By Mountain Hands to be a place of inspiration, training and opportunity for artists and craftspeople, coordinating and holding classes in many different types of arts and crafts, and hopefully have a comfortable place for artists, crafters, local folks/residents to come and feel welcome,” said owner Millie Pejakovich.

The Franklin Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a ribbon cutting with OnTrack WNC to announce its expansion in Macon County. Funding from the National Mortgage Settlement has allowed the agency to open a new location at the Macon Program for Progress Training Annex in Franklin. Todd Duvall, the Western Area Office Coordinator/Counselor, will provide financial/housing counseling and connect clients to other OnTrack WNC programs.
