Businesses commended for contributions to economy.

Macon County's second annual BizWeek came to a close last Thursday with a banquet honoring businesses and individuals for their contributions to the recovering economy. Seminars, networking events, and guest speakers celebrating entrepreneurship in the county were all part of Bizweek.

The week long happenings culminated at the Holly Springs Baptist Church fellowship hall with a banquet that was served to a full house by students from the Job Corps (food provided from Angel Medical Center) and hosted by the Economic Development Commission (EDC).

Exotic animals and international adventures don’t usually come to mind when thinking of Franklin, N.C., but a visit to the wildlife museum at Wilderness Taxidermy and Outfitters will change that. Located at 5040 Highlands Road, owners Bill and Linda Fuchs have provided taxidermy services and guided worldwide hunting excursions for more than 25 years.

Originally from Homestead, Fla., Bill met Linda in her hometown, Mobile, Ala., during college.

Equipped with twenty dollar bills in hand, nearly 40 people stormed Outdoor 76 on Friday afternoon as part of Venture Local Franklin's Cash Mob.

“The Cash Mob was absolutely incredible,” said Outdoor 76 co-owner Corey McCall. “We had between 35-40 individuals participate. We were so blown away by the support from the community and Venture Local Franklin.”
