Donation made to MedWest-Harris' mammography department
A beautiful quilt, featuring swirls of pink fabric squares was created by a Sylva woman for the Med- West-Harris mammography department located at Harris Medical Park.
It took Carmen Huber 280 hours, or about four months, to complete the twin-size quilt that is now a wall hanging. The quilt is now displayed in the entrance hall of the mammography department, now located at the Harris Medical Park.
“I was looking for a pattern for the quilt and came across the pink ribbon, which is symbolic of breast cancer awareness, and I thought that was perfect. It was a labor of love and I hope everyone who views it will get the same meaning from it that I did,” Huber said.
During a dedication ceremony, Joe Lewis, radiology manager at MedWest-Harris, spoke about the imaging capabilities of the hospital. The MedWest imaging departments offer a full range of diagnostic imaging services for inpatients, outpatients, emergency and surgical patients.
Services provided by the MedWest Imaging Services Department include computerized tomography, diagnostic radiology, digital fluoroscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, mammography, nuclear medicine technology and intervention procedures, ultrasound and Doppler, angiography, CT-guided biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.
