Macon County School nurse certified

At the March 27th meeting of the Macon County Board of Health, Mrs. Mary Tyson, RN, BSN, CSN was recognized by Mr. Russell Stevenson, Chair of the Macon County Board of Health, for achieving her certification in thespecialty of school nursing by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses, Inc.

This is a voluntary examination process which ensures a national standard of preparation, knowledge, and practice for school nurses.

Mrs. Tyson serves South Macon elementary, Union Academy, and Macon EarlyCollege. Macon County’s five certified school nurses serve 11 Macon County schools and provide services such as school health screenings, individual care plans, and medication administration.
