Features Health & Wellness Dr. Donald Dewhurst joins Angel Primary Care

Dr. Donald Dewhurst, MDLong time Franklin physician, Dr. Donald Dewhurst, MD, will soon be joining Angel Primary Care in Franklin. Dr. Dewhurst will see patients at 278 Riverview beginning on May 1.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Dewhurst join the staff of Angel Primary Care,” said Bonnie Peggs, AMC Director of Marketing & Public Relations. “He brings over 30 years experience to the practice.”

Dr. Dewhurst graduated the University of New Hampshire cum laude in 1971 with a B.A. in chemistry and zoology. He graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston- Salem, North Carolina in 1975. He completed residency in Family Practice at N.C. Baptist Hospital. In 1978 and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Dewhurst first became known to residents of the area when he opened a Private Family Practice in Franklin in 1980. He also served in various capacities with Angel Medical Center over the years including ER Director for 10 years.

“His commitment to quality healthcare is evident from his many years of service in the medical field,” Peggs concluded.

Dr. Dewhurst most recently served as board of director’s member for Little Tennessee Watershed Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Vista Hill Management & Keystone Emergency Management Group of Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Dewhurst and his wife, Alice, have four children and seven grandchildren.
