November is Home Health Month, recognized nationally as a month in which to honor Home Health employees and their dedication to providing this much-needed clinical service.
WestCare’s Home Health team has served patients throughout the five westernmost counties in Western North Carolina for 30 years, with staff members traveling daily as far as the North Carolina/Georgia border and into the most rural and mountainous areas of the region. The team, which now consists of 59 employees including registered nurses, physical therapists, certified nursing assistants, social workers, case managers, and home care companions, brings many years of clinical skill into the homes of patients who cannot leave home to receive treatment, may have difficulty doing so, or need to remain in a familiar environment. Home healthcare provides relief to family caregivers and can also eliminate the need for patients to have prolonged stays in hospitals or to become residents of nursing homes or other skilled nursing facilities.
Committed and dedicated to this important work, WestCare Home Health has received excellent patient satisfaction scores, leading in all domains in the southeast region by scoring highest in care of patients, communication, recommending the agency and rating the agency on a scale of 0-10. Ninety-eight percent of those surveyed rated WestCare Home Health 9-10 in the last survey report this year. Scores are determined through patient surveys that directly reflect the opinions of patients treated by Home Health staff.
“I’m amazed by the commitment, skill, dedication and resilience of our team. Throughout challenging times in healthcare, our staff has remained focused on providing world class service to our community,” said Andrea Rodgers-Ray, RN, COS-C (Certified OASIS Specialist – Clinically), director of WestCare Home Health. “Our staff members show unrivaled compassion when it comes to our patients.”
WestCare’s Home Health offices recently relocated to 26 WestCare Drive, Suite 303, in the upper level of WestCare Medical Park. The offices were formerly located in Sylva Plaza.
To celebrate the relocation and in recognition of National Home Health Month, an open house will be held at the new location on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All are invited to attend the open house to meet and honor staff and to see the new location. Refreshments will be served.
“We are happy to be in an on-site location at WestCare Medical Park and look forward to growing our agency and the services being offered,” said Rodgers-Ray. “The reception is a great opportunity to meet the staff that bring healthcare home.”
For more information on the open house, call the Home Health offices at (828) 586-7410.
