Mary K. Barbour and Connie Berry of Legacy Zumba Fitness met with Beto Perez, originator of Zumba Fitness, during the recent 2012 Zumba Fitness Instructors Convention in Orlando, Fla.

 

 

Preparations are well under way for the Angel Medical Center Radiothon to raise funds for their Outpatient Medicine Expansion project. The Radiothon will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the great wall below the AMC Emergency Room.

“We encourage the community to support our first Radiothon and their local hospital,” said Bonnie Peggs, director of Marketing & PR for AMC. “A fun-filled day has been planned as we work to raise $300,000 in donations and pledges for our Outpatient Medicine Expansion.”

Also honors caregivers

On Thursday, Aug. 9, more than 125 folks from the community joined together with Angel Medical Center (AMC) staff, volunteers and physicians to honor hospice caregivers and in memory of hospice patients. Beth Hunter, an AMC volunteer and certified Hospice musician, played the harp.

James Bross, CEO, opened the service with the affirmation of the quality and dignity of life at the end of life. Jean Sprinkle, Angel Home Health and Hospice Director; Jennifer Wells, AMC Hospice Social Worker; Rev. Vic Greene, AMC Hospice Chaplain; and Bette Balmer, AMC Hospice Bereavement Coordinator all took part in leading the service sharing inspirational verses and thoughts.

Free weight-loss challenge entirely web-based

The third kick-off for Lighten Up 4 Life for our community sponsored by Angel Medical Center will be on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. in the hospital dining room. The LU4L program is a free weight loss challenge that is entirely web-based.

The program is based on four-person teams who compete with others to lose the largest percentage of weight against the other teams. At the conclusion of the challenge, the top three teams who have lost the highest percentage of weight receive prizes. The teams who were the top winners during the first and second challenges all received Kindle Fires, and a three-month free membership to Franklin Fitness for their family.
