Linsey Wisdom News Editor Angel Medical Center announced Tuesday that Tim Hubbs will assume the role of chief executive officer, effective July 14.Hubbs, who serves as president and CEO of Drake Enterprises, will replace Don Sandoval who recently resigned after serving as CEO for the last two years. The hospital announced that Sandoval will pursue other opportunities in Columbus, Ohio, where his daughter and grandchild live. In the interim, chief operating officer Marty Wadewitz will be acting CEO until Hubbs assumes his position in July. “Angel has been a mainstay of our community for as long as I can remember, and I am very proud of what it has accomplished over the years,” Hubbs said on Wednesday. Hubbs previously served on the board of trustees for Angel Medical from 1996 to 2004 and was acting chairman the last two years of his service. “It is our great good fortune that Tim Hubbs has agreed to serve as the chief executive officer of Angel Medical Center,” said Fred Jones, chairman of the board of trustees. “Tim has a deep and abiding commitment to Angel Medical Center and his background in financial and business matters and his understanding of the healthcare industry, when combined with the talented and effective team of dedicated professionals that makes up Angel Medical Center, will allow us our best opportunity to be successful for years to come.” Hubbs has previous experience in the medical industry serving East Tennessee Children’s Hospital from 1984 to 1991. When he left, he was the vice president of finance and the chief financial officer. “I am honored and excited to get to serve in the hospital in my home town,” Hubbs said. Hubbs graduated from Franklin High School and holds a bachelors of science in accounting and an MBA, both from Western Carolina University. He received his CPA certification in 1981 and subsequently joined the firm Ernst & Whitley before moving to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. Hubbs resides in Franklin with his wife, Michele. He is active in the community having served on both the boards for Nantahala Bank and BalsamWest. Hubbs said he’s looking forward to working with the team of professionals at Angel Medical Center. “I know that I am not alone in this, since there are so many that I respect highly who have volunteered at the hospital or served on its board of directors,” he said. “I look forward to serving the physicians, employees and volunteers at Angel to help it reach its full potential.” |
