Guitarist Brad Richter and cellist Viktor Uzur will perform a concert of traditional, classical and contemporary works on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m., in the main hall of the Macon County Public Library. Two award-winning, classically trained artists – guitarist Brad Richter and cellist Viktor Uzur — will perform a concert of traditional, classical and contemporary works on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m., in the main hall of the Macon County Public Library, 819 Siler Road off Highway 441S in Franklin. The program spans musical eras and styles, from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumble Bee” to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” Light refreshments will be served; admission is pay-what-you-can.Richter and Uzur have earned rave reviews in solo settings, as a duo, and with ensembles and orchestras in North America, Europe, and Asia. Their performances and compositions can be heard on NPR, PBS, and in films. Richter has won the Royal College of Music’s Guitar Competition, US National Finger-Picking Championship, and International Composers’ Guild Competition, among others. He holds a Masters degree from the Royal College of Music in London. Uzur is former principal cellist and soloist with ARCO Moscow Chamber Orchestra and an award winner at many competitions. He holds a Masters degree from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and Doctorate from Michigan State University. Brad Richter will hold a workshop for advanced guitarists Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., at Rathskeller Coffee Haus. Participants are invited to bring their original compositions and arrangements.
