The first exhibition of the season at Summit One gallery will open on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 23, with An Introduction of New Artists. The new artists at Summit One are Shellie Lewis Dambax, Chery Cratty, Bobbie Doyle-Maher, Ken Wallin and Pat Calderone. The Artists’ Reception is Saturday, May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The summer schedule is as follows:

— Sunday, June 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. a Courtyard Poetry Reading will be presented by poet, Joyce Foster with art by Jane Smithers. The two collaborated this past winter to publish the book, “Painted Leaves.” Foster will read her poetry with Smithers’ art as a backdrop. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an afternoon of poetry and art in the warm sun shine.

— June 20 opens The Exquisite Equine . This group exhibition includes: Mase Lucas, Betty Foy Botts, Brian Hibbard, Vivian Jendzio, Robert Tino, and Anita Lupoli.

— Saturday, July 11: Studio Courtyard Sale. Lemonade, Bar- B-Que and great art in the courtyard.

— July 25: Pat Calderone: Spirit in the Wind

— Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16: The Empty Bowl A group exhibition in the courtyard to benefit the Food Banks of Highlands and Cashiers.

— Sept. 5: 100 Years of Conservation by the Highlands Cashiers Land Trust A group exhibition by the artists of Summit One Gallery depicting images of properties that the Land Trust have conserved. The Land Trust will publish a book of photographs of these properties and the artists will render their impressions of some of the same properties.

— October 10: Jane Smithers: Mes Vogages

— November 14: Wine and Dine in conjunction with the third Annual Highlands Culinary Weekend
