Thursday, 02 July 2009

Sharon Sturms, (right) along with her husband Barry, glass artists from Florida, will participate in the l6th Annual Mountain Makings Art & Craft show to be held this year at the Blue Ridge School on Hwy. l07, in Cashiers, N.C., Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, from l0 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

The majority of Sharon and Barry’s work is glass fusion — cutting shapes from glass and then layering them before firing them in a kiln. They range in variety from timeless glass art greeting cards to decorative large platters to jewelry.

Julie Boiesseau, (at left) a potter from Sylva, N.C., will also participate in the annual craft show. Other featured art will include ironwork done by a blacksmith, woodcarvings, woodturnings, furniture, quilts, art glass, jewelry, goats milk soap, handcarved acrylic sculptures, handmade musical instruments, photography, floral art, handknitted purses, shawls, scarves, belts and much, much more. The show is free to attend and has plenty of free parking, so come out for a fun day with arts and crafts and exhibitor demonstrations. For more information, call (828)526-3181.
