Sharon Sturms, (right) along with her husband Barry, glass artists from Florida, will participate in the l6th Annual Mountain Makings Art & Craft show to be held this year at the Blue Ridge School on Hwy. l07, in Cashiers, N.C., Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, from l0 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.The majority of Sharon and Barry’s work is glass fusion — cutting shapes from glass and then layering them before firing them in a kiln. They range in variety from timeless glass art greeting cards to decorative large platters to jewelry. Julie Boiesseau, (at left) a potter from Sylva, N.C., will also participate in the annual craft show. Other featured art will include ironwork done by a blacksmith, woodcarvings, woodturnings, furniture, quilts, art glass, jewelry, goats milk soap, handcarved acrylic sculptures, handmade musical instruments, photography, floral art, handknitted purses, shawls, scarves, belts and much, much more.
