News Operation North State now accepting names of N.C. deployed troops for Christmas gift boxes

Operation North State (a 501(c)3 nonprofit/all volunteer organization) will be sending 1,500 Christmas gift boxes to North Carolina’s deployed troops filled with North Carolina products/goodies. The boxes will feature 30 items related to North Carolina.

This month Operation North State (ONS) will begin accepting the names of N.C. deployed troops to receive the boxes. ONS defines a N.C. deployed troop as an individual from any branch of military service from North Carolina that won’t be home with their loved-ones this Christmas.

There is no charge to submit a name or even multiple names. The ONS website ( features an input form to submit recipient names. For multiple names, the list of names can be emailed or sent via regular mail to Operation North State.

Why is the ONS Christmas gift box so important? A recent quote from a US Army Colonel currently serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan – a North Carolina native.

“Operation North State - thanks for your efforts with this, and for starting early! There is NOTHING more special for troops in harm’s way than receiving packages and letters from your home state between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are many of us from the Old North State over here who will be thinking of and missing “all y’all” this Holiday Season.”

Terry Snyder of Winston-Salem serves as the organization’s chairman and Terri Brooks of Mooresville will serve as Operation North State’s executive director.
