News Jackson County Sheriff’s Office D.A.R.E. car wins 1st place trophy

On January 19th, 2012 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office competed in the 2012 N.C. D.A.R.E Officers Association Conference car show in Wilmington, N.C.

D.A.R.E Officer Sgt. Johnny Hollifield attended the conference as well as 60+ D.A.R.E. Officers from all across the state of North Carolina to receive training in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education curriculum as well as related topics. Among the week’s events was a D.A.R.E. car show. The cars entered were voted on by other officers and we are proud to announce that Jackson County Sheriff took 1st place.

The car design was inspired by the current black and white paint scheme used by the Sheriff’s Office. Sequoyah Custom Signs helped design the wrap and was wrapped by Assurance signs from Granite Falls, NC.

Sheriff Jimmy Ashe and Sgt. Hollifield were eager to enter their 2007 Dodge Charger because they recently had the car “wrapped”, giving the car a whole new look. So if you see this car on the road in Jackson County it’s probably Sgt. Hollifield headed to another 5th grade class to teach them about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol and also how to make good decisions.
