News GOP organize for 2012 Election Cycle

For easy recognition of the location very visible signage has been installed however a sign in keeping with those found on other businesses in the complex is on order according to Ralph Slaughter, Jackson County GOP Chair.

Candidates who attended the event and others not in attendance have furnished campaign signs, brochures and collateral materials that are now available for any voters who wish to have them. Candidates at the Open House event were Chris Petrella, candidate for the U.S. Congressional seat now held by Heath Shuler; Mike Clampett, candidate for the North Carolina House seat now held by Phil Haire; Dan Forrest, candidate for North Carolina Lt. Governor and State Senator Jim Davis, who is running for re-election to the North Carolina Senate. Other officials in attendance were Doug Cody, Jackson County Commissioner and Nelson Bumgarner, GOP member of the Jackson County Board of Elections.

Governor Candidate.The North Jackson County GOP January meeting at Ryans in Sylva followed the Open House event. Speakers at the meeting were Kenny West, primary candidate for the U.S. Congressional seat now held by Heath Shuler and Mike Clampett. On Tuesday, January 24th the group held their South Jackson County meeting at the South Jackson County GOP Headquarters in Cashiers at Laurel Terrace. Speakers for that evening were Vance Patterson and Spence Campbell, both candidates for U.S. Congressional seats now held by Heath Shuler and Mike Clampett, At both meetings, Ralph Slaughter, GOP chair, announced plans for the Jackson County GOP Convention scheduled for Friday, March 16th at the Jackson County Aging Center on 100 County Services Road in Sylva. The business conducted at the convention will include selecting delegates to the District convention on April 14th and the North Carolina GOP State Convention June 1st-3rd. Convention attendees will be served a delicious full course dinner and will hear a well known speaker, South Carolina U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson.

“During the Primary Election period and then the General Election cycle both of our headquarter offices will provide any materials voters wish to have for all of the Republican candidates”, explained Slaughter. “We will hold monthly meetings at both locations. In North Jackson County the meetings are held on the fourth Monday each month and in South Jackson County on the fourth Tuesday. We want to make attending meetings and volunteering during this extremely important 2012 election cycle convenient and simple for voters who wish to participate. Volunteer sign-ups for phone duty, manning offices, precinct officers and general precinct election activities are underway.
