One injured as vehicle crashes into Cullasa River

EMS crews were called to the scene of a vehicle that crashed into the Cullasaja River at 51 Haven Meadow Ln. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Tracy Thompson, of Franklin, who was helping out the owner of the car, attempted to crank the Jeep Liberty, but was not accustomed to a stick shift. The vehicle began to roll toward the river taking a fence and a bench with it.

As the vehicle got closer to the river, Thompson jumped out in order to avoid taking a cold swim. As she was jumping out, she suffered a hip injury and was transported and admitted to Angel Medical Center.

The investigating officer was Trooper Brandon Padgett.
