A Franklin man has been charged with numerous offenses stemming from a burglary in south Macon.
On Nov. 16, Justin Kyle Hodgins, 25, of South Skeenah Road was arrested after initially being spotted attempting to break nto a home in South Macon.
According to reports, Macon County Sheriff’s Officer Tracy Burt received a call on the morning of the incident advising that a man was attempting to break into a home on Sunset Ridge Road. The suspect was allegedly attempting to unscrew the security lights at the residence, however the suspect was gone before Burt arrived. Hodgins was reportedly driving an older model black Honda Accord Sedan.
Burt spotted a car fitting the description of the alleged burglar and stopped it while on his way to the scene. The officer found that the driver, Hodgins, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to reports. Blank checks belonging to the Sunset Ridge homeowner and others were found on Hodgins’ person, along with other items, including a head lamp, gloves and bar tire.
The investigation is still ongoing, and other charges may be forthcoming. Hodgins has been charged with breaking into one residence and attempting to break into another, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, misdemeanor damage to personal property.
Hodgins is still in custody on a $25,000 secured bond, and is scheduled to be in court on Dec. 6.
