News No injuries in concrete truck rollover

Photo by Erin MorganLast Thursday afternoon, a 1994 GMC concrete transport truck turned over while traveling northbound on Hwy. 441 between Otto and Franklin.

The initial accident investigation revealed that a motor home was traveling in the northbound lane of Hwy 441 followed by the concrete transport truck operated by Cashiers Concrete. The motor home suddenly slowed to make a right hand turn and the concrete truck locked its brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting the motor home.

The driver successfully avoided hitting the other vehicle but in doing so, the concrete load shifted and the driver was unable to maintain control of the truck. The truck landed on the driver's side in the southbound lane of Hwy 441.

No injuries were reported although traffic was disrupted for several hours while the scene was cleared.

N.C. State Trooper B. R. Padgett responded to the scene aalong with Otto Fire Department and first responders.
