News Macon Bank raises more than $12,000 toward children’s wing at Rathbun Center

Macon Bank sponsored The Rathbun Center’s fundraiser, The Best of the Best, held on Friday, March 18, at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin. A big “Thank You” to all who donated money, time or talent for this important fundraiser.

Music was provided by The Dueling Pianos (Cathey Gray and Michael Conard), WestSound of Asheville, The Rye Holler Boys and Sheri Lynn & Mountain Friends. The Franklin High School Cheerleaders got everyone into the spirit by doing a cheer on stage and then passed the donation buckets through the crowd.

Macon Bank raised approximately $12,700 to go towards the $1.1 million goal. The Center is raising money to create a children’s wing to the Rathbun Center, the only hospitality house in Western North Carolina. The plans are to add six new rooms, plus porches and play areas especially for families with children, which in turn will open up other rooms on the upper floors. The money raised will also allow the center to replace the roof over the entire house.

Donations are still being accepted and are tax deductible. For more information, visit www.rathbuncenter.org and click on “Donations” on the home page.
