News Jackson Sheriff’s Office makes arrests in larcenies

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has recently charged seven individuals for larcenies which involved removing telephone lines from their poles. The individuals have been linked with four separate occurrences where telephone lines were taken, stripped and sold.

Two separate telephone companies — Frontier Communications and AT&T — have been victimized during this series of events dating back to March 27, 2011. Four individuals have been apprehended and three are still being sought by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Those arrested are:

Taylor Wayne WilliamsTaylor Wayne Williams, 20, listing a Champion Drive address in Sylva, was charged with five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy. He is currently being detained at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office under a $36,000 secured bond.


 

Brittany Nicole FergusonBrittany Nicole Ferguson, 23, listing a Thomas Lane address in Clyde, was charged with five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy. She has been released after posting a $30,000 bond.


 

Richard James KingRichard James King, 42, listing a Cable Cove Road address in Canton, was charged with five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy. He has been released after posting a $50,000 bond.


Tracee King MetcalfTracee King Metcalf, 37 years of age, listing a Cable Cove Road address in Canton, was charged with five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy. She has been released after posting a $50,000 bond.

The three individuals that are still wanted in connection with these crimes are:

Homer Allen WilliamsHomer Allen Williams, 42, listing a Cable Cove Road address in Canton, is wanted for five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy.


 

Timothy Paul SmathersTimothy Paul Smathers, 44, listing a Rosemount Road address in Sylva, is wanted for five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy.


 

John Daniel WilliamsJohn Daniel Williams, 37, listing a Crawford Cemetery Road address in Sylva, is wanted for five counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of injury to real property and two counts of felony conspiracy.

Anyone having information regarding the whereabouts of these three persons are urged to contact Sgt. John Buchanan at (828) 631-1131.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Crimestoppers program is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of these individuals and also for any information related to recent property crimes that have occurred in Jackson County.
