Rose Delaney, a member of the Angel Medical Center Radiology Department, has received her certification as a Breast Ultrasound Technologist. This certification is a voluntary credentialing process that is designed to elevate professional standards and enhance individual performance.
A breast ultrasound exam is usually performed after a mammogram or clinical exam that reveals a possible abnormality. The Breast Ultrasound Technologist, using advanced technology, allows a more reliable characterization of lumps and certain abnormalities shown on a mammogram. Even in dense breast tissue, ultrasound can create an image that often allows radiologists to better characterize abnormalities.
The diagnostic sonographer is a highly skilled individual qualified by academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient services using ultrasound and related diagnostic techniques.
Angel Medical Center is the only facility in the area that can perform screening and diagnostic services. With the advances in detection with the digital mammography system, the use of the soft touch pad to help reduce the discomfort of a mammogram, and with AMC being designated as a Pink Ribbon Facility, AMC hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings.
