Franklin High School welding student, Adam Queen, recently competed in the 2011 National Skills USA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri.
The National Skills USA Championships is the showcase for the nation’s best career and technical students to demonstrate their excellence in both skills and leadership.
The philosophy of the Skills USA Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.
The event brings together more than 5,600 student competitors and thousands of instructors and industry leaders.
After receiving first place in the welding competition at the district and state levels.
Queen placed 24th out of 47 in the national competition.
Queen was accompanied to the event by FHS Skills USA advisor and welding instructor, Larry Pickens.
