News Community Highlands Relay for Life ‘Carnival of Hope’ begins Friday evening

After many months of preparation and intense fundraising Relay for Life Highlands will commence this Friday, Aug. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Highlands Recreation Park.

Highlanders held a variety of events throughout the year to raise money to fight cancer. Events like Bark for Life, Dance for Life, book sales, raffles and Friday night concerts.

The top fundraisers so far are the Just for You team with $12,396 raised; Highlands Scouts are second with $6,435 and Fressers Eatery comes in at third with $5,324.

Top individual fund raisers are Debbie Grossman, $4,162; Seth Satterwhite, $3,175, and Michael Murphy, $3,022.

Now in its 11th year, the Highlands Relay for Life will be celebrating more birthdays and helping raise more money for the American Cancer Society. The theme this year is “Carnival of Hope,” and participants will honor cancer survivors and remember those gone too soon.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some great entertainment, great food, and help bring an end to cancer. Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back!
