Shirley Wilson, a native of Highlands, is holding her handmade quilt, in the making for more than 12 years.
Wilson started making it when her mother was ill and she needed something to occupy her time while she sat in the hospital and doctor’s offices.
Assisted by her daughter, Angie Houston, progress on the quilt was intermittent.
Finally in March of ’09 the work was done.
After all her hard work, Wilson has decided to donate the quilt to help Clear Creek Baptist raise funds to complete its fellowship hall.
Her quilt will be displayed with many other auction items, donated by local merchants, at a fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Satolah Fire Department.
Food will be served starting at 5:30, music at 7 p.m. with auction to follow.
