News Community Former Humane Society volunteers honored

President of the Macon County Humane Society, Gregory F. Boyer, honored past volunteers at a dedication ceremony held Saturday.

From left to right: Suzanne Dilthey, Rudi Meinders, Joyce and Michael Stewart received certificates of appreciation and plaques in honor of their loved ones who dedicated time, money, and service to the Macon County Humane Society.

Joyce and Michael Stewart attended the ceremony in memory of Kat Stewart, who selflessly dedicated her free time to the Humane Society and loved all the animals, especially the cats.

A plaque in her memory will be hung in front of the cat room.

Rudi Meinders attended the service in memory of her husband, Jan Meinders, who volunteered at the shelter as often as possible.

Suzanne Dilthey attended in memory of her husband, Al Dilthey, who served as the director for the Human Society and the thrift store which benefits the shelter.

Also honored at the ceremony were Marcella Drummond, Julia Cranfield, and Karen Keyser, who were all dedicated volunteers and benefactors.
